The Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 5000 is ideal for offices needing a high-quality medium-capacity printer. It offers 1,200 dpi resolution, 4 MB of RAM (expandable to 100 MB), two paper trays, and an option for a hard drive of 1 GB or bigger.
The 5000′s standard input capacity and support for a variety of media sizes, from 3-by-5-inch to full-bleed 11-by-17-inch images, simplifies complex jobs. Two paper trays support the printer’s 350 sheet input capacity (1,100 with an optional trays) and 300-sheet output. It prints on a full range of media, including professional stationary, envelopes (no. 10 and Monarch), transparencies, and labels. An optional duplexer lets you save paper by printing on both sides of the page.

The HP 5000 is compatible with Windows and Macintosh. It has interfaces for IEEE 1284-compliant bidirectional parallel, RS-232 nine-pin serial, and two PCI-based EIO slots. An option is available for HP JetDirect internal print servers, which also provide automatic network switching.

To ensure compatibility with both PC and Macintosh files, the LaserJet 5000 includes a variety of print languages–HP PCL 5e, HP PCL 6, and PostScript Level 2 emulation.
